Description
PinePhone Pro
Meet the PinePhone Pro, flagship smartphone and the best way to experience mainline Linux on a mobile device
The PinePhone Pro is powered by a Rockchip RK3399S hexa-core SoC operating at 1.5GHz, and ships paired with 4GB of dual-channel LPDDR4 RAM as well as 128GB of internal eMMC flash storage. It features a high-fidelity 13MP main camera sensor and a 5MP front-facing camera.
Pine worked with Rockchip’s engineering team to fine-tune the SoC’s performance so that it meets the necessary thermal and battery-consumption envelopes. The result of this cooperation is the RK3399S – a RK3399 variant made specifically for the PinePhone Pro. Rockchip’s team was also instrumental in enabling the PinePhone Pro’s suspend state, which allows the smartphone to receive calls and SMS messages while preserving battery.
Hardware privacy dip switches for the cameras, the microphone, WiFi & BT, headphone jack (enabling UART) and the LTE modem (including GPS) are accessible under the back cover, just as on the original PinePhone.

NOTES
- This phone is not ready for mass market adoption, or to be used as a “daily driver” phone. This is a Linux enthusiast phone for those who are willing to work around shortcomings and obstacles while waiting (or helping) the software reach a more mature level.
- A small numbers of stuck or dead pixels (1-3) can be a characteristic of LCD screens. While rare, this should not be considered a defect. If you think that a minor dissatisfaction, such as dead pixels will prompt you to be dissatisfied, DO NOT purchase the PinePhone Pro. When fulfilling your purchase, please bear in mind that we are offering the PinePhone as a community service. Thank you.
- * Different community editions are released from time to time – we do our best to specify the edition we expect to receive, but this is subject to change. However, it is always possible to boot the PinePhone Pro with a microSD card, and reflash the internal eMMC if desired.
- Art on the back of the case varies based on the community edition that comes preloaded on the phone at the time of shipping.
- The PinePhone Pro Explorer Edition is aimed at Linux developers with an extensive knowledge of embedded systems and/or experience with mobile Linux.
- Flashing an original PinePhone OS image to the PinePhone Pro’s internal eMMC will result in a soft brick – Recovery instruction
- If errors are encountered trying to update the Manjaro installation on the Pinephone Pro, try the following commands from the Terminal app:
sudo pinephonepro-post-install
sudo pacman -Syyuu
